If You Wouldn’t Eat It, Why Feed It to Your Dog? Choosing Human-grade, humane fresh beef.
Fresh food can provide incredible benefits for our canine companions. But there’s another question we should be asking when we fill our dogs’ bowls:
Are we choosing ingredients that we would feel comfortable putting on our own plates?
At The Jersey Pawz, the answer is an enthusiastic YES!
We believe that dogs deserve the same consideration we give ourselves when choosing the quality and source of the food we eat. After all, they’re family—and we believe they should be fed like family.

It Starts With Knowing Where Our Food Comes From
When we shop for meat, it’s easy to focus on what we see in the package: beef, chicken, turkey, or another protein. But have you ever stopped to think about where that protein came from and how the animal was raised?
A significant portion of the meat supply in the United States comes from Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). These are large-scale agricultural operations where animals are confined in relatively small spaces and provided with feed rather than being allowed to graze or forage naturally.
The primary goal of a CAFO is efficiency and production. Animals are raised in large numbers, and feed is brought directly to them.
That raises an important question:
What are those animals eating?
You Are What You Eat—and So Is Your Meat. We choose human-grade, humane fresh beef.
We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat.”
But there’s another layer to consider.
We are also what our food ate.
The quality of an animal’s diet can affect the nutritional composition and overall quality of the meat we eventually consume. When animals are raised on diets that don't reflect how they would naturally eat, it’s worth considering what that means for the food that ultimately reaches our plates—and our dogs’ bowls.
At The Jersey Pawz, we believe knowing the source of our ingredients matters.
We want to know where our proteins come from, how the animals were raised, and what went into producing the food we serve.
Quality Matters to Us
We make a conscious effort to avoid relying on proteins from large-scale industrial operations whenever possible.
That same philosophy extends to the meals we prepare for our own dogs and for all of our Pupstomers.
Our dogs shouldn't receive lower-quality ingredients simply because they're dogs.
They deserve food made with the same care and consideration we would give the meals we prepare for ourselves and our families.

Supporting Local Farms
One of the most important parts of our ingredient philosophy is supporting local whenever we can.
That’s why we’re proud to source our beef from JR’s Cattle Ranch in Millstone Township, New Jersey.
We love their grass-fed beef, but we also love knowing where that beef comes from. Being able to support a local farm while providing our dogs with a quality protein is something that matters deeply to us.
It’s not just about what's in the bowl.
It’s about the story behind what's in the bowl.
Feeding Them Like Family
At The Jersey Pawz, we don't see our dogs as pets who happen to live in our homes.
We see them as family.
And when you love someone, you want to give them the best you can.
That means thinking beyond calories, protein percentages, and what's convenient. It means considering the quality of the ingredients, where they come from, and the people and farms behind them.
Fresh food is only part of the equation.
The quality and sourcing of those fresh ingredients matter, too.
Our Commitment to Our Pupstomers
Our pledge is simple:
We will continue to source our ingredients responsibly, prioritize quality, support local whenever possible, and build relationships with responsible farms and suppliers.
Our partnership with JR’s Cattle Ranch is one example of what that commitment looks like.
We know that we can't control every step of the food supply chain. But we can make thoughtful choices about the ingredients we purchase and the food we prepare.
Because at the end of the day, the meals we make for our Pupstomers aren't just dog food.
They're meals for family.
And we wouldn't serve our family anything we wouldn't feel good about serving ourselves.
